An exciting new workshop foraging for wild colour in the Suffolk Landscape and creating dye baths over an open firepit.
This experience takes you back to nature and allows you to explore the potential of wild colours on yarns and fabrics.
This full day workshop will bring you closer to nature and the seasons change. Offering you the opportunity to gather plants to use as natural dyes.
You will be preparing fabric and yarns, and be introduced to mordanting and the importance of making sure your fabric and yarns are ready for natural dyeing. We will then be making dye baths for the colours we find and a few heritage dyes too. You’ll be creating a unique project using textiles all seeped in the colours from the land.
You’ll leave having connected with your ancient self, heard the crackle of the fire pit and embraced the scent of autumn. Your fabrics will be offered into the dye baths along with yarns and threads for you to use in your own time.
I’ll give you a project idea for all your sample.
This workshop is a way to acknowledge the seasonal change and connect with nature and landscape though colour.
This is an outside event so please dress for the weather and for walking in woodlands. (If the weather is looking really wet we may need to reschedule) The kettle will be on the firepit for cups of something hot and there will be a soup prepared for lunch. (Gluten free and vegetarian)
